Writing this on a plane to Bali.
As I sit here looking out over another plane sunset for the year, I can't help but notice how lucky I am.
Of all the humans to have ever lived, what percentage have seen the sunset from 10,000 feet in the sky? How many left the ground?
How many…
Left the ground?
How many of us "put ourselves in the air," so to speak? How many of us live by our calendar, but not our potential?
How many of us choose to treat the ground like quicksand rather than a launchpad?
How many of us have resigned to life's hurdles as something not to be vaulted over, around, or through?
Will you see your life as infinite potential? As a launchpad?
Will you check to see if the walls are made of paper?
I hope so, because the act of checking is to find yourself on the other side, in one way or another.
A separate reflection:
I've been processing more of my breakup, funnily enough, in the last few days.
I was in the shit last week a bit. Trying to process a lot of change that I'd managed to distract myself from for a while.I wouldn't say I ran from it, but I definitely kept myself busy.
Maybe this time, I can soften the edges, and instead of avoiding the hurt, maybe I can welcome it.
Maybe you too can notice that the "hurt," when present, is actually beautiful in some way.
It opens your soul. It proves you cared, and that's amazing.
It proves you, maybe for the first time, gave the best you had, and regardless of the outcome, were yourself.
If the universe has taken that person away from your life, just imagine what it's creating space for.
Can you lean into that mindset a little more?
Can you "soften at the edges," loosening your grip when ruminating won't serve you?
By taking things a little less seriously, but perhaps no less deeply?
Can you cry, then laugh?
Can you let sadness open your soul, and be grateful for it?
This universe owes us nothing, yet it gives us everything.
Receive its painful lessons, its joy, its sadness, heartbreaks, adventures, miracles & storms, all as a donation.
We are owed nothing.
Will you leave the ground?
