The Sunday I Realised I Don't Want Normal
Yesterday was the moment I realised I don't think I want a normal Sunday.
The night before, I went to a concert - something I hadn't done in way too long. I hadn't given myself the freedom or self-love to just go do something I genuinely enjoyed in a while. It was amazing.
But it also meant Sunday was slow, and I barely worked - another thing I haven’t done in way too long.
From the outside, it probably looked like a pretty typical Sunday for most people. But on the inside, it didn't feel like a normal life at all.
I found myself drifting back to my desk anyway, checking in with some clients, replying to members who just started the Launchpad Challenge. Suddenly I was working again. And I caught myself thinking, "Damn, can't I just rest?"
Here's the thing though: when you find something you're genuinely passionate about, it energises you. It gives you life, even on a "lazy" Sunday.
It got me thinking about how in typical jobs, we feel like we need two full days just to recover before dragging ourselves back to the grind. We dread Monday. We live for the weekend. We're constantly waiting to escape. We’re counting down the days until we get some time off.
But what if work could actually be part of the excitement and enjoyment of life? What if it motivated you instead of drained you?
I know people dismiss this. "It's not always that easy," they'll say. And sure, it's not.
But there's no award given for the best excuse. There's no prize for not building the life you actually want.
I want to encourage you to have the courage to search for a life you don't need to escape from. That's my new Instagram bio, and I think it'll stick, because it really sums up everything I'm doing, and the very thing that energises me to chase big scary goals each day.
So here's my question for you: What do you have in your days right now, in your work week, where you're thinking "one day, hopefully I can escape from this"?
And what would life actually look like if you didn't need to escape? What work would you be doing? Who would you be helping? Where would you be living? How would your calendar look?
That's what I've been reflecting on. And if you're ready to start building that life, the 30-day Launchpad Challenge might be exactly where to begin.
Talk soon ;)
