The mind is an amazing tool, but a dangerous place to live.

Overthinking can feel like progress, but most of the time it’s the thing that keeps us stuck. I’ve learned the hard way this week that you can’t logic your way into peace.

You can’t spreadsheet every possibility and hope it spits out certainty.

Sometimes in life, whether it’s about your career, a relationship, an opportunity, or just a problem gnawing at you, thinking more isn’t the answer. It only pulls you further into the spiral.

For about four months this year, I’ve been long distance with my girlfriend Olive.

It’s been an amazing challenge, one that’s strengthened us, but also one that’s shown me the limits of analysis.

When communication is hard and time zones don’t line up, replaying conversations in my head or trying to decode every text never brought me closer to clarity.

The same thing shows up in my work. I live with uncertainty every day - building my business, making content and carving out my own path. If I stop working, I pretty much stop earning.

When I get caught in the trap of laying out every possible scenario, I don’t find peace, I just end up exhausted and acting out of a place of fear, instead of possibility.

Overanalysing feels useful because it’s the same skill that solves actual problems, but not everything is a problem.

Some things are just feelings that need to move through you.

Recently I’ve been leaning into meditation and presence. Letting myself feel life instead of dissect it.

And I’ve noticed that when I let go of the constant need to “figure it out,” I end up calmer, I make better moves, and ironically, more opportunities flow towards me.

Isn’t that funny? By almost letting go of the need to have it figured out, things tend to become a lot clearer.

I’m not saying don’t try figure anything out… but there’s a healthy amount of inner exploration, and then there’s going into deep stress and anxiety.

So here’s the reminder I needed, and maybe you do too:

You don’t need to have every answer right now.

You don’t need to solve everything with an avalanche of thought.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is stop spiralling in your head, breathe, and choose to trust where you are.

Let the moment carry you forward. Clarity will come after.

love,

Sam.
